Apprenticeship "The ORIGINAL 4 Year DEGREE"

A Carpenter Apprentice is someone who is learning through On the Job Training while working under the
guidance of a skilled journey-level worker known as a Journeyman. This
OJT coupled with classroom
training known as
Related Supplemental Instruction is the Carpenter Apprenticeship.

Apprentice
Requirements
Apprentice Carpenters must
provide their own tools as required on the Tool List.
They must also attend classroom
(RSI) training for a
minimum of 160 Hours Per Year and submit records
(Work Hour Slips) of the
OJT portion of their
apprenticeship. Apprentice Carpenters must be
committed to themselves and their training in order to
excel in this 4 Year Apprenticeship Program.
How to Become An Apprentice
Applicants process through an interview session
known as Rate & Rank. Upon successful
completion of a Rate & Rank, applicants are
placed on an Eligibility List in ranked order and
are called out for work as it becomes available. At
this point, the Apprenticeship begins.

Apprentice Rate of Pay
An inexperienced carpenter apprentice will earn wages
while learning the carpentry trade starting at 60% of a
skilled journeyman's rate of pay. Local union offices can
give you the specific journeyman rate of pay. Wages
increase five
(5%) percent every six months throughout
the apprenticeship
as long as the apprentice
successfully completes the Upgrade Procedures.
